About the Author

Iyashema Redd, LMFT, M.Ed. is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, educator, family systems specialist, and founder of Justyn’s Corner Child & Family Counseling Center, Inc. With more than two decades of experience spanning education, mental health, counseling, and family advocacy, she has dedicated her career to helping individuals and families heal, grow, and build healthier relationships.

As a trauma-informed clinician rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, family systems work, and culturally responsive care, Iyashema works with children, adolescents, couples, and families navigating trauma, high-conflict relationships, co-parenting challenges, and relational repair. Her approach emphasizes accountability without shame, boundaries without abandonment, and healing without self-erasure.

Iyashema founded Justyn’s Corner Child and Family Counseling Center, Inc. after the birth of her second son with special needs. During her own search for support, resources, and understanding, she experienced firsthand the challenges many families face when trying to access meaningful care. That experience became the foundation of her mission: creating a safe, compassionate space where individuals and families can find hope, connection, and practical tools for growth.

Throughout her clinical work, Iyashema has witnessed how accountability is often misunderstood, misused, or weaponized—particularly within families, intimate relationships, schools, and systems. These experiences inspired her book, Accountability, which challenges traditional notions of responsibility and offers a compassionate framework rooted in honesty, safety, repair, and personal growth. Rather than viewing accountability as punishment, she invites readers to see it as a pathway to freedom, healing, and stronger relationships.

In addition to her clinical practice, Iyashema is a passionate advocate for children, families, and individuals with special needs. She has extensive experience in school-based mental health, educational counseling, behavioral interventions, and family advocacy, helping families navigate complex educational and mental health systems.

Whether serving as a therapist, educator, author, or community leader, Iyashema remains committed to creating spaces where people feel heard, valued, and supported. Through her writing and professional work, she empowers others to recognize the impact of their choices, strengthen their relationships, and embrace accountability as a powerful tool for lasting transformation.

Because healing begins when responsibility is met with compassion, and growth becomes possible when people no longer have to navigate life's challenges alone.
